Abstract The handling and storage of the spent fuel from current nuclear power reactors is one major ecological challenges in front energy industry, due to its long period high radiotoxicity. It mainly caused by long-lived minor actinides generated fuel. Therefore profound study possibilities for shortening terms fuels some radioactive waste through currently available technologies necessary. possibility transmutation Neptunium, Americium Curium isotopes, as most abundant wide-spread Light Water Reactors evaluated paper using recent tools, purpose. technologically accessible option, analysed. cores LWR (PWR) PHWR (CANDU) type are modelled variation quantity isotopes after typical campaigns these estimated. obtained results show that under investigated conditions both types potential decrease before final disposal, therefore provide a vital option toward sustainable environmentally friendly management.
